We were founded in 2002 by three friends from the University of Notre Dame who started selling textbooks online to earn some money, and ended up forming a pioneering social enterprise â�� a business with a mission to promote literacy.

	Apr 2011	Pretty ghetto operation. No way to check on status of buyback orders on their website. No confirmation email. No phone number visible on website. No human answer to an email I sent to customer service several days ago. AVOID!
	Mar 2011	Better World is a weird one. I sold about 50 books to 7 different vendors; they only offered the best price for 3 of them but that price was far better than anyone else wanted to pay for any of my books (I got 20 bucks from one textbook that, if I recall correctly, not one single buyer even quoted me an offer for). That said, I won't use them again. Their payment process took over 3 weeks from the time they RECEIVED the books, and their website has no way to check the status of an order or even refer back to a previous quote. They are the only buyer I've worked with (7 of them) whose website is so lacking. If they had a good email notification system that would maybe make up for it, but it was radio silence the whole time. They did respond promptly when I finally emailed them, maybe 2 or 3 days before I finally got paid, but the email was pretty generic, just sort of "well it takes a while sometimes."
	Mar 2011	Sent my book out on Feb 24th, recieved full payment on March 11th. Overall a smooth transaction and I would send them books again.
	Mar 2011	USE CAUTION....... I sell A LOT of books to various vendors. Sent a package on January 15th, never received a payment. I contacted them about the book and they claim to never have received it.....its interesting how this never seems to be an issue with my other vendors. I notice a trend from a few other individuals posting low feedback claiming the same issue. I would stay away from this vendor, not worth the time.
	Mar 2011	I have purchased and sold many books to other vendors (Amazon, Bookbyte, Chegg) and never had any problems. This was my first and LAST transaction with Better World. It took several weeks and a follow-up email before they acknowledged receipt of my books then a week later sent me an email saying one book was missing and they deducted the value of that book from my payment. I have sent them an email and received no reply.

	Jan 2011	They are the slowest of the five places I have used to sell books so far. I have used other vendors who use Fedex, and from send off to getting paid was less than a week. It has been over 2 weeks since I sent my books to Better World Books, and I am just now about to get my paypal payment. The additional few dollars I got because they paid more was not worth the time and hassle.
	Jan 2011	Its been 3 weeks since i shipped books to them. Their media mail shipping sucks. Going to be pissed if my books disappear. Used Chegg.com buyback and had that money in less than 1 week.
	Dec 2010	No real problems. I received my check with-in two weeks of mailing the books. 4 stars because I never received an email saying they received the books and payment was sent. They did however, respond to my questioning email. Will use again.
	Dec 2010	sent book (brand new) on 11/23. received an email that it arrived on 12/3, but still waiting for paypal payment as of 12/6-7. i've dealt with other buyback sites and they all process far more quickly. i have no doubt they will pay, just that it will be slowly. this site also should add a way to track shipments and payment processing, since you must rely on email for updates otherwise. they do respond to emails, though. bottom line--if you have the patience, they pay pretty well and as promised, just slowly.

	Oct 2010	I've sold books 3 times to them - and have not encountered a single problem. They pay what's quoted and fairly quickly. I'm also happy to be supporting a cause along the way. Some of the low star quotes here swayed me away from using Better World at first, but now looking back I can't believe them. (I mean, who doesn't notice 900+ pages missing from a book the minute it's pulled out of a box - the spine would collapse on itself!) Overall, they have A+ service!

	Jun 2010	I sell to about half of the preferred vendors on the bookscouter site and was hesitant to give better world a try because of a number of bad things I've heard and read about them. I took a chance and sent them two shipments, but now wish I hadn't. Unlike every other site I deal with, there is no place on their site to check the status of my buyback. If the others can do this, why can't they ? It's been over three weeks and no word from them. Many of the other sites pay in less than one week. My advice - go with another company - its not worth the frustration.

	Feb 2010	I only have two words to describe this company: unproffesional and ridiculous. Better World Books has got to be one of the WORST websites I have dealt with out of the several I have used in the past month. I couldn't find any reviews about them when I first needed to sell books back online. I didn't know about bookscouter at the time, and I truly regret sending them anything. I mailed them three books, all in separate packaging (bubble mailers) and I even donated a couple I couldn't do anything with. All three were textbooks as well as my donation pile. I waited three weeks after mailing via media mail, but started to grow concerned when I mailed books to other companies way later and they were already received, yet I never heard a word from Better World Books. I broke down and e-mailed the costumer support, because I felt it was ridiculous. I got an answer to my e-mail within two hours, which was really fast. The man told me they made a mistake and forgot to inform me. The important thing he claimed was that they received all of my orders on the 13th of this month. So, basically they sat on it for two extra weeks without saying squat. I was less than impressed! They are claiming they received the books, but if I hadn't e-mailed them and didn't keep the contract ID #s they could've just claimed they never got them. The man told me they will pay me ASAP through their next paypal mass payout transaction. I was happy to at least hear that I will get paid. Now I am once again pissed off, because that was 6, yes, 6 days ago! I never received ANYTHING from this company payment wise. It says on their website payment is made within 3-5 days of receipt. Technically, I have been waiting 3 weeks for payment and NOTHING. A thank you would have also been nice for my donations. I am below ground level on impressed, because I am anything, but impressed. I think this company should NOT be allowed to run a business, especially in this manner. All other companies I have dealt with, even though they had ridiculous condition guidelines, at least I got paid. Safe to say, if I ever do get paid, I will NOT EVER use Better World Books again.
	Feb 2010	I received my quote from them and sent out my books (including the required packing and shipping labels), only to receive a very beaten and battered package containing all of my books returned to be two weeks later. There was no explanation, no note. And when I called their customer service to find out why they did not accept the books, so that I would know if I should bother trying to sell them to another company, I basically was told "We don't know, it happens"
